Myspace Layouts

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

Here are some of the Myspace Layouts that I have made. All of them were handcrafted to order for the recipients. None of them use any sort of template at all. I get quite a few requests for these, so if you want one just contact us.

A New Theme

Friday, November 21st, 2008

At last! The Blog now matches the parent site. Thanks to Sam K for the original Pixeled theme that I adapted to fit this site. The WordPress engine is very powerful and easy to use. And I think it is wonderful that it is so extesnively customizeable and personalizeable. I am planning to include it for clients that wish to have a personalized blog. It is a very light-weight and intuitive CMS that most people–even the non tech savy ones–can use.

It only took a replacement background image and a little CSS tweaking to get the blog to match up with the main site. I had to manually add the “Return to Main Site” link at the top but it wasn’t to hard to get it to follow suit and fit in nicely. I hope to continue to write in this blog as Thirty3RPM productions continues to grow.

Coding: Interface Part III

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

I have been very busy for the last week working on school work and such. The interface is pretty much complete. I am still not set on the logo but for now it works. I am playing around with some PHP scripts and other things to enhance the content of this site. The item on the right of the home page is a PHP script that reads an include with another PHP script that parses the feed from this WordPress Blog. I am not done tweaking it yet but everything is still a work in progress.

I hope to continue to work more on the sub pages more throughout this week and develop the site further.

The Beginning: Interface Design Part II

Monday, November 17th, 2008

Well It started out okay, then I decided to install Joomla onto the server and try to learn how to use it. That was a mistake. Joomla is an extremely powerful content management system but I wanted something simpler and easier to customize. So I tried to adapt the wordpress engine to work along with the site template that I was working on. That did work but it was very difficult and just about as easy as manually updating the pages locally and re-uploading them. Eventually I will probably try to write my own simple cms for the pages but for now it is going to stay PHP manually.

I am still developing the site and hopefully the full site will be launched by the end of the week. The design is still open to change and will probably be finalized by Wednesday (Just when I will be sick of looking at it) and I will work on the content.

This blog is set to recieve a custom template tailored to look similar to the main website that is set to happen by the end of this or next week. For now, you can check out the good ol’ Myspace and add me there.

The Beginning: Interface Design Part I

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

Well Last night I stayed up late and began making the homepage for www.thirty3rpmproducitons.com It is not finished but the basic navigation is there. The whole thing is subject to change and will probably see some major tweaking.

I am still thinking about what CMS to use, I might install Joomla or just do it the hardway for a good DIY make-my-own CMS. Or I could just be lazy and manually edit the HTML pages.

Anyway, continuing on the subject of the homepage–I wanted to try to make a glass theme based off the current blog theme, but make my own spin on it. The glass texture was interesting, but the color blurr gradient that is the background image took about 3 hours to make.

Let me tell you about that image. it looks decent, it might receive some tweaking but overall I am happy with it. The image itself is about 10 layers. The bottom being a rainbow gradient, but the rest are various textures and such. I actualy bought one from SXC.hu, it was a brushed metal texture. I realized after I finished the background that I could have probably made the brushed metal texture.

Well I hope you viewers will like the design. Please don’t hesitate to give me some feedback!

Myspace Design

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

Most people have a Myspace profile now. Amidst the mess of crappy colors and ADD ME NOW bullitins, a good design will once in a while pop up.

I have been working with many clients over the last four months regarding myspace layouts and related design work. It is a good opportunity to learn how to deal with clients and to establish better design skills. I have made a number of Myspace layouts now and I am continuing to improve.

Most of my clients are bands and artists, as they want a nice eye-catching layout to show off their talent. There seems to be a continuous steady market for Myspace layout creation.

Just recently, Myspace released the new “Profile v2.0″ Interface for the user profiles. This pretty much thwarts any custom design as of my knowledge. It applies to regular users, but bands and artist profiles are not affected just yet. For now, the original profile v1 is still usable. I wonder how long until they force the new v2 profile?

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

Currently I am in the process of designing a logo for the Thirty3RPM Produtions project. I would like your feedback on the current ideas which can be found below. There are several iterations of the design, please let me know which one you think will work the best!

Once I decide on a logo I will begin building the actual site (and posting it in the blog) and keep you updated.

First Post, First Blog, First Everything.

Sunday, November 9th, 2008

Hey world, This is the first blog that I have ever written in (other than some crappy Xanga at one time.) I have never been into blogs really, but they seem to be very useful.

Currently, I am in school with  dual major for an AA in Digital Media, and and AS in Digital Media – Internet Design. I am trying to rack up as much experience as possible in this field of interest in order to put together a good portfolio–I also want to have experience in the field.

Let me tell you about this thing called Thirty3 RPM Productions. This is my attempt to break into the freelance web design and graphic design world. It will showcase my various designs ranging from small advertisement banners to custom Myspace layouts, to full websites. I hope to also include an audio mastering/production service and possibly a video editing/production service as well.

Hopefully this venture will be successful and hopefully I can use this project to catapult myself into the world of web and graphic design.
