Revamping The Site

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

You might notice (or might not) that the main site is in some what of a disarray. I am revamping the structure and some of the pages, but I decided to do it all at once.

The site should be done by the end of the week, hopefully.

First After Effects Composition

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

I decided to finally sit down and learn some After Effects. I started out by watching some simple tutorials to see how the program works, then after watching a few videos from Video Copilot, I decided to try something of my own. It isn’t very good, but it is the first thing that I have ever done in After Effects and I think it turned out better than I expected.

About 4 hours into making this composition, I realized a faster more efficient way to make it. I finished it doing the hard way that I started with, I will try to make more stuff as time goes on.

New PC – Intel Nehalem

Monday, March 16th, 2009

So I decided to build a new PC (all you mac guys/girls out there are not required to read any further) and it is a monster.

The specs are:
Intel Core i7 920 2.66GHz Quad Core + Hyper Threading
Asus P6T Deluxe Mother Board
6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 1600 RAM Triple Channel
NZXT Whisper Full Tower Chassis
ATI HD4850 512MB Video Card (from old system)
Seagate 160GB SATAII HDD (from old system)
Seagate 500GB SATAII HDD (from old system)
Lite-On IDE DVD Burner (from old system)
M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 sound card (from old system)

I run a customized version of Windows XP Professional x64 Edition.

THIS THING IS A BEAST

I am probably going to need to buy a new after-market cooler for the VGA and the CPU.

The Search for the Missing Flash-Drive

Monday, March 16th, 2009

There is this ongoing problem that I have with my flash-drive. It seems that I am required to loose the dumb thing every so often or else the glue that holds the world together might just break and cause a cataclysmic failure in the fabric of space-time. Lately I have been using this particular drive: Corsair Survivor 8GB.

It is indeed made of aircraft-grade aluminum and the business end has the unique ability to screw into its cap, thus making a secure, water-tight seal. Normally I carry it on my keychain as it is rugged enough to do so. I have lost just the drive part itself before, but this time I managed to loose both the tube and the drive.

I havent found it yet, but I have determined that it is indeed in Florida and probably at my work.

Hopefully I will find it today as it has the most recent data on it that I have not yet backed up.

Free Accounts vs. Custom Themes

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

I was working on a theme for  the WordPress account at www.melonnieinhaiti.com only to find that the free accounts on WordPress.com don’t allow you to import themes. So i just made custom header for now. I will probably end up hosting the blog here on my server as it is is a charity project.

I will continue working on the custom theme.
